The History of Poly Print
Ron Genova came to Tucson in 1992 to purchase assets and inventory from a group of investors, which owned and operated a 25,000 sq.ft. flexographic printing facility near West Grant Road and Interstate 10.
Instead, he purchased what would become Poly Print Inc. and moved his wife, Elsie, and son, Joe, from Los Angeles to Tucson.
A year later, Ron purchased a six-color flexographic printing press.
Joe was just 10 years old, but he immediately took to learning everything he could about the flexible packaging business from the ground up. He started sweeping floors and getting acquainted with the equipment.
“I worked in every department, learning the business – how it flows, the applications, the products and the industry.”
By age 17, Joe was helping out his parents on the administrative side of Poly Print.
Today “Papa Bear” is president and “Mama Bear” handles the administrative and financial sides of the business. Joe is more hands on now than ever.
The family purchased a new 77,000 sq.ft. facility near West Wetmore and North La Cholla Boulevard in 2006. The space and new equipment has provided the necessary expansion to offer customers alternative flexible packaging solutions, handle small- and medium-size orders and deliver a variety of packaging structures from snacks to pharmaceuticals.
